It has been a long hiatus, but I am finally free and back wasting time on the interwebs. The uni year is over, woooot!
I have had such a great year, where to start? I am finally studying something I truly enjoy and it’s been so much fun, I have met awesome new people, I’ve learnt so much overall about the field of photography, and I have been pretty stoked with some of the work I’ve done this year so I thought I’d post and share.
This triptych was my first task for photo manipulation this semester. I guess I could call it ‘Lunar Space’ ? for the moment. We had to explore the notion of the ‘everyday’ in our images so I took an everyday item and gave it a new perspective. I wonder if you can tell what material I used? But yeah this subject focused on the pre-processing, no photoshop manipulation whatsoever was involved, so it was great to rely on our conceptual/composition skills and manually experiment with the arrangement and placement of items in our photos, the use of perspective, and lighting techniques in the studios. We also shot on medium format with hassies, so the quality was so sharp. I sound like a kid recounting a zoo trip, but it was a great subject - however frustrating the assignments became, in the end it was all worth it because the output continually took me by surprise.
